Hey there! I’m D. Cole (they/them), a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Washington, D.C. I hold a B.S. in Psychology from Towson University and an M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. As a DMV native, I take pride in serving my community through providing mental health & social services in community health and private practice settings.
I specialize in supporting Black LGBTQIA+ communities with trauma-informed, gender-affirming mental health care. I’m especially passionate about working with Black queer, trans, nonbinary, genderqueer, and gender-fluid humans. As a member of these communities myself, I value culturally grounded therapy that uses the therapeutic relationship as a space for healing, growth, and empowerment in response to the systems that cause us harm.
My clinical focus includes experience with complex trauma, grief, anxiety, mood disorders, gender exploration, transitioning, sexuality, relationships, and life transitions. I also provide Letters of Support for gender-affirming procedures, assessments for ADHD, and couples therapy. My work draws from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Relational Cultural Theory.
As an LPC, I am dedicated to offering high-quality, trauma-informed care tailored to each person’s unique needs—meeting clients exactly where they are with compassion, clarity, and affirmation. I’m looking forward to connecting with you!
